What to Bring


Please note: The Leatherwoods campground is not dependent on Salem water and is safe.

Don't forget food and water!

  • Cooking equipment and extra propane
  • All food cooking utensils
  • Tent
  • Ground cloth (tarp)
  • Extra rope
  • Extra tent pegs
  • Hammer (for pounding in pegs)
  • Folding chair for sitting at campsite and workshops
  • Sleeping bag
  • Air mattress or cot
  • Extra blanket or two
  • Flashlight or lantern and extra batteries
  • Suntan lotion, bug spray
  • Toilet paper
  • If you bring your own generator, it must be an approved compact or campground model only, or entirely self-contained. Generator use is limited to the hours of 10:00am to 2:00pm. Please respect others' space in regard to noise, and all quiet hours. At their discretion and judgement Leatherwoods staff may alter hours of use for generators, or not permit any use of generators due to noise levels, fire hazard conditions in the woods, or other reasons. Generators may be used for medical purposes in a designated area. At this time it is the north end of the big meadow.
  • Any necessary medications
  • First aid kit including:
    • Benadryl/Antihistamine
    • Bee sting kit (If allergic)
    • Roll on or spray for regular bug bites
    • Aloe Vera for sunburn
    • Caladryl or other medication for Poison Oak

*There is running cold drinkable water at the pavilion. There is hot water for tea and coffee in the coffee station, if set up.

Water is not guaranteed to be available. Make sure to bring extra water.
